The Flash's Michael Shannon was "a little confused" by DC return
Michael Shannon has revealed his initial confusion about being asked to appear in upcoming DC film The Flash.
As DC fans will already know, Shannon's character General Zod met his demise in 2013's Man of Steel, which meant that he wasn't expecting to appear as the character again any time soon.
"I was a little confused," the actor told Looper. "I said, 'As memory serves me, I think I died in Man of Steel. Are they sure they got the right guy?'"
Shannon then went on to explain that General Zod will be coming back via the multiverse, something that he needed DC bosses to explain to him.

"But then they explained to me the whole multiverse phenomenon, which... I was a little behind the times on that," he continued.
"I can't say that I'm a huge consumer of this genre of films — not that I have anything against them. If I'm going to watch a movie, the odds are it's not going to be one of those, but I sure love making them."
He also teased what fans can expect from his character, adding: "He's a little different in this film.
"You don't spend as much time with him, so you don't really get to know as much about what he's thinking. It's not necessarily his movie."

Shannon won't be the only actor making a comeback in the film either, with the film's first trailer unveiling Michael Keaton's Batman return.
Following numerous delays and controversies, The Flash is currently set to come out in summer this year and will see Ezra Miller reprise his titular role of Barry Allen. The film, which will follow the Flash as he travels back in time to try and save his family, has also been described as a reset for the franchise by DC boss James Gunn.
The Flash will be released in cinemas on June 16, 2023.
