Former Bond Girl Reveals Why Daniel Craig Left James Bond

Could this be the reason Daniel Craig won’t play 007 again?

According to former Bond girl Caterina Murino, the pressure of being James Bond led to Daniel Craig turning down a staggering £80 million to return to the role.

“It’s hugely stressful being Bond,” she told the Sunday People. “There’s a lot of money involved, so that also brought more tension - and a lot of that tension was on Daniel.”

Caterina Murino starred opposite Daniel Craig in his first Bond movie – ‘Casino Royale’. And while the 38-year-old former Miss Italy reportedly paid tribute to Craig’s incredible determination and professionalism, she also sympathised with the pressure of being Bond.

“It’s not easy to go back time and time again,” she said. “It can be tiring to keep trying to find new things in the same role.”

“You study for the role, then there’s six months of shooting,” she added. “It’s a very tiring movie. And Daniel is not just an actor, he’s a human being too.”

Of course, the search is now on for Daniel Craig’s replacement… and Tom Hiddleston appears to be one of the few names linked to the role.

He also happens to be the actor backed by Caterina Murino – who happens to be a close friend of Bond movie producer Barbara Broccoli.

“I can understand why Daniel would not want to return,” she said. “Bringing back the same role again can be complicated. But I’m a huge fan of Tom [Hiddleston’s] work. I believe Barbara will pick someone like that who has a theatre background.”

Who will end up stepping into Daniel Craig’s shoes?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but Tom Hiddleston is looking increasingly likely.
