Former Home and Away star Samara Weaving has landed the leading role in Liz, a new biopic about one of America's forgotten founding mothers Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte.
Described as the US alternative to Bridgerton or The Great, the upcoming movie follows the story of the country's first modern celebrity, as she revolutionised America's social scene during Thomas Jefferson's presidency.
The film is being directed by Adam Leon, who is also behind Vanessa Kirby's new drama Italian Studies, which is set to arrive later this year.
Weaving's credits in recent years include Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri, the dark comedy Ready or Not, Bill & Ted Face the Music, and Ryan Murphy's recent Netflix series Hollywood.
However, she may be best known for her role in Home and Away, in which she played Indi Walker between 2009 and 2013.
Her character left the Australian soap after her former partner Romeo Smith (Luke Mitchell) kept his skin cancer diagnosis a secret from her and left to spare her the grief.
After learning that he'd lost his battle to the illness, Indi reassessed her life and decided to travel overseas. It was later mentioned that she now lives in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).
