Former UFC champ Miesha Tate may have retired from fighting in 2016, but she’s still as tough as ever. How do we know? Tate didn’t make it to the hospital to give birth to her second child, having no choice but to deliver him at home with her partner.

Tate announced on her Instagram on Sunday that her son, Daxton Wylder Nuñez, arrived safely but unexpectedly, apparently leaving Tate and her partner, fellow MMA fighter Johnny Nuñez, no time to get to the hospital.

Today I became a Mother all over again! The experience was incredible, we planned a hospital birth but our son had other plans!
Daxton Wylder Nuñez was born at 8:20am June 14th in our home. We welcomed our son as a family..... it was perfectly imperfect and I am over the moon!
I cannot thank you enough @johnnyboymma you kept me centred, focused and helped me unexpectedly deliver our baby! I couldn't have done it without you truly. Thank you for being my rock.

Tate, who has been living and working in Singapore since her retirement from the UFC, wrote that she had planned for a hospital birth but didn’t get into the details that led to the unexpected home birth. She posted several pictures of their new arrival on Instagram, including one that appears to be of the newly expanded family just moments after Daxton’s birth.

Tate and Nuñez have a daughter, Amaia Nevaeh Nuñez, who was born in June 2018.
