James Franco is set to star in and direct Beautiful People.
The Oscar-nominated actor-director is in talks to play playboy and celebrity hair stylist Jay Sebring in the forthcoming biopic, reported Deadline.
The film charts the rise of Jay as a "self-created men's grooming pioneer", as he climbed the social ladder in Hollywood during the 60s, with Warren Beatty, Steve McQueen, Kirk Douglas and The Doors' Jim Morrison among his clients.
His romantic relationship with beautiful young actress Sharon Tate, before their tragic deaths at the hands of the cult led by Charles Manson in 1969, is also expected to be covered in the film.
James is premiering three films at the Sundance Film Festival - indie raunchy documentary Kink which he produced, Interior. Leather Bar which he co-directed and the Linda Lovelace biopic Lovelace, which he stars in with Amanda Seyfried.
The 34-year-old, who will next star in Spring Breakers, has also completed his adaptations of William Faulkner's As I Lay Dying and Cormac McCarthy's Child Of God.
