Game of Thrones fans really aren’t happy with the latest episode of the HBO show, so much so that they’ve now started a petition to remake all of season 8.

Major spoilers ahead.

The season’s penultimate episode, titled ‘The Bells’, saw Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) reduce King’s Landing to ashes and rubble with her last remaining dragon after her enemy had already surrendered, and some viewers thought her merciless rampage was completely out of character.

However, some have been unimpressed by all of the final season in general, criticising its writing and for wrapping up some of its storylines too fast.

That has caused a group of fans to start a Change.org petition, calling for HBO to remake the entire season.

The petition reads: "David Benioff and DB Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (ie the books) to fall back on.

"This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

Euron Greyjoy actor Pilou Asbæk recently welcomed the divisive reaction to the season’s penultimate episode, telling The Wrap: “You cannot satisfy one billion people, it’s not possible.

“But you want to have them commit to the show, even if they don’t like it. There was a guy called P. T. Barnum who said, 'There’s no such thing as bad press, there’s only press'. And I welcome everyone, people I agree with or people I disagree with.”

He added: "For me, the twists and turns were logical, because this is Game of Thrones and people have to die.”

According to review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the controversial installment is the worst reviewed episode in the show’s history.
