Game Of Thrones Veteran Joins Kingsman: The Golden Circle

The cast of upcoming comic book spy sequel ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ continues to grow, with the addition of actor Pedro Pascal.

Best known for his role as Oberyn Martell, the flashy swordsman of ‘Game of Thrones’ season four, and subsequently seen in Netflix series ‘Narcos,’ Pascal will star in the ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ follow-up as a character with the memorable name of Jack Daniels, according to Deadline.

Nothing is known about the role, but given that the sequel is expected to largely dwell on the US-based wing of the Kingsman agency, Statesman - whose HQ is hidden under a whiskey distillery - it seems reasonable to assume Jack Daniels might be a code name (much as their British counterparts are named Arthur, Merlin, Lancelot, Galahad etc.)

Pascal joins returning actors Taron Egerton, Mark Strong and Edward Holcroft, as well as ‘Kingsman’ newcomers Halle Berry as Ginger, reportedly the chief of Statesman, and Julianne Moore as central villainess Poppy.

It has also been strongly hinted by a recent teaser poster that Colin Firth - whose return seemed unlikely given the events of the first film - will also be back.

Matthew Vaughn returns as director, and has again co-written the screenplay with Jane Goldman, based on the comic book characters Vaughn co-created with writer Mark Millar and artist Dave Gibbons.

‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’ is set to open in June 2017 (UK release date not yet confirmed).
