One of Game of Thrones’ most beloved characters had their final moment teased back in season six.
The HBO show – which drew to a conclusion last month – presented a hopeful ending for the living Stark children, including Sansa and Bran, in its controversial finale.
The last we saw of Arya (Maisie Williams), she had shunned the idea of returning to Winterfell. Instead, she boarded a boat headed west to see what lies beyond Westeros – a moment that was hinted way back in season six.
In the eighth episode, titled “No One”, Arya happened upon a travelling acting group led by Lady Crane (Essie Davis). She took a shine to Arya who, after offering her a place to rest after being stabbed by the Waif, asks her to join her group on their travels. Arya, though, has other plans.
Crane asks her where she’ll go instead and Arya says: “Essos is east and Westeros is west, but what’s west of Westeros? Nobody [knows]. That’s where all the maps stop.”
After Crane tells her she’ll likely come across ‘the edge of the world,” Arya – clearly excited by this prospect - says: “I’d like to see that.”
It’s a small, but nice moment – pointed out by a Reddit user – that will no doubt provide a kick to fans when re-watching the show for the knowledge that Arya will go on to fulfil this wish.
