'Game of Thrones' stole a moment straight out of 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' (SPOILERS)

Game of Thrones steals move from The Last Jedi

Winter finally came in episode 3 of Game of Thrones as the Night King’s forces descended on the Stark’s ancestral home in “Battle of Winterfell” and it was absolutely worth the wait.

The feature-length episode (82 minutes in length) was an epic display of action and emotion that took the lives of a few fan favourites but ultimately saw the defeat of the White Walkers thanks to the baddest Stark of them all, Arya.

However, eagle-eyed fans might have noticed how the young assassin’s fell swoop to kill the Night King was remarkably similar to a move from The Last Jedi.

The Star Wars film, directed by Rian Johnson, famously has a scene where Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) battle Snoke’s Elite Praetorian Guard.

Just when Rey’s arm is trapped by the Guard she drops her lightsaber into her other hand and takes out her foe.

Arya jumps at the Night King, dagger raised, ready to stab him but he turns just in time and holds her in a chokehold.

She then drops the weapon into her other hand and plunges the pointy end into his stomach, destroying him and his entire army of the undead.

While Rian Johnson hasn’t spoken about this specific moment he apparently predicted the outcome of the episode.


Safe to say after tonight’s episode, Maisie Williams never has to buy herself a drink again.
