Gary Barlow has shared an emotional tribute eight years after his daughter was stillborn.

The Take That star, 49, and his wife Dawn lost their daughter Poppy in 2012.

Fans sent messages offering condolences and support in the run up to the anniversary, and Barlow responded by sharing a picture showing him and Dawn with their arms around each other as they stood on a beach and stared out to sea.

“Thank you for all your kind messages yesterday - we soldier on,” he wrote.

The singer added a heartbroken emoji to his moving post.

Barlow and his wife tied the knot in 2000 and they have three children - Daniel, Emily and Daisy.

In February 2012 they announced that they were expecting a fourth child but on August 4 that year, the star revealed that their daughter Poppy had been stillborn.

It happened just days before Barlow was set to take to the stage at the closing ceremony of the Olympics.

The singer has previously said that he doesn’t think he and his wife will ever get over their loss.

Speaking in 2018, he said: “It is something I don’t think we will ever recover from, especially her.”

Barlow also wrote about Poppy in his book A Better Me, saying the couple spent time with their daughter after she was born.

“It was one of the best hours of my life I’ve ever experienced in the midst of the hardest time of my life. It was very powerful, that hour was,” he said.
