George Miller Provides Mad Max Sequel Update

‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ was one of the best blockbusters of the summer. In fact, it was met with such a euphoric response by audiences that some moviegoers insisted that it was one of the best blockbusters ever created.

Because of George Miller’s sensational work on the relentless cinematic waltz through the desert fans are hoping that a sequel will be released imminently.

Yet, even though Miller had previously confirmed plans for ‘Mad Max: Wasteland’, there’s still no confirmation it will actually happen. When he was asked about whether ‘Wasteland’ had been written yet though Miller delightfully declared that a script was already in place.

“Because this got delayed so often,” Miller explained to The Hollywood Reporter, “we dug down deep into the backstory, Nick Lathouris and I have written two other stories … One is a full script.”

Miller was then asked if the script was for ‘Wasteland’, to which he vaguely added, “It doesn’t have a title. And one of them we talked about in great detail and he wrote as a novella.”

There was some worry earlier this year that George Miller wouldn’t actually direct a sequel, after it was speculated that the production problems that had plagued ‘Fury Road’ had led him to reconsider overseeing another ‘Mad Max’ film.

But Miller was quick to dismiss these reports, insisting that while his next project probably won’t be another ‘Mad Max’ film, he still has two more stories to tell in the series. Fingers crossed that they’ll be put into motion very, very soon. Especially since ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ took 18 years to come to screen.
