TikTok’s “ghost trend” is a bittersweet way of remembering the people you’ve moved on from.
The challenge is simple. All you have to do is dig up some old photos and draw a cartoon ghost over anyone with whom you’re no longer in contact. It’s a unique and even somber way to feel nostalgic for those who will remain in the past.

The hashtag #ghosttrend currently has over 141 million views on TikTok.
Beatrice Harrods took a different approach and drew on physical copies of her photos.
“People come and go, and you can only be grateful for the good times,” she wrote in the caption, adding in the comments section, “I’ve been crying for two days over this trend. What would you say to the people who disappeared from your life?”
How to do the ghost trend on TikTok
The easiest way to edit your photo is to use the Snapchat app.
Step 1: Hit the “Memories” tab in Snapchat and select “Camera roll.”
Step 2: Choose the image you want to edit.
Step 3: Click “Edit” on the bottom left corner.
Step 4: Use the “Pen” tool to draw ghosts over your photo. Most people use a simple white ghost with a black outline.
Step 5: Tap “Share” to download your edited photo so you can upload it on TikTok.
