Whether you want it to or not, the GI Joe film franchise is coming back for another big-screen outing with Snake Eyes, a movie focusing on the character of... well, Snake Eyes.
The character has a long and complex backstory that boils down to 'he is a ninja and ninjas are cool', and the studio has cast Crazy Rich Asians star Henry Golding to take over the character from Star Wars' Darth Maul, Ray Park.
Now, Golding has shared the first photo from the movie on his Instagram account, writing: "Because its my birthday today and I'm playing Snake Eyes... Here's your first look."
As you can see, our black-clad character is walking up some steps to what looks like a temple, which we are assuming is where he will do his degree in Being a Badass Ninja.
Director DJ Caruso, who has been attached to a third main series film, has said that if the new movies do well enough, Hasbro could eventually cross the GI Joe franchise over with its Transformers series.
We'd also like to see Optimus Prime and co cross over with the Power Rangers (which Hasbro also owns now), if the Gods can please make that happen.
