Gibson and Banderas join Expendables 3

Mel and Antonio confirmed for Sly's action-fest

It's official: Mel Gibson and Antonio Banderas have been confirmed as the latest additions to the cast of Sly Stallone's next 'Expendables' instalment.

Despite the recent comments by big Sly over Bruce Willis being "greedy and lazy" which may see the 'Die Hard' star depart, it looks as if the production is ploughing on, with an August 2014 release date.

Willis allegedly stated that he would leave the project if he didn't get paid $4 million.

Gibson is to play the villain: a role which went to Jean-Claude Van Damme and Eric Roberts in the previous two films in the series.

As yet Banderas' role is unclear. He's recently worked with Stallone on 'Assassins'.

Te pair join Harrison Ford in recent additions to the cast. The film is being directed by Patrick Hughes and will portray a younger group of action heroes who clash with the older generation before eventually coming together and saving the day.
