Glen Powell didn't believe his presence would 'help' new Jurassic World movie

Glen Powell passed on the new Jurassic World movie because he didn't feel like his presence would "help" it.

The Top Gun: Maverick actor revealed in a cover interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he passed on a new Bourne Identity instalment and the upcoming Jurassic World.

Powell explained that he read the script for Gareth Edwards' dinosaur outing and didn't feel like the film needed him.

"Jurassic is one of my favourite movies. It's one of the things I've wanted to do my whole life. I'm not doing that movie because I read the script and I immediately was like, my presence in this movie doesn't help it," he shared, before insisting his decision wasn't a reflection of the film's quality.

"And the script's great. The movie's going to f**king kill," he stated. "It's not about that. It's about choosing where you're going to make an audience happy and where you're going to make yourself happy."

Jurassic World 4, which is due to be released in July 2025, will now star Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Rupert Friend.

Elsewhere in his interview, the Anyone But You star noted that he is so in demand at the moment that he has to be selective about what projects he takes on.

"I've worked really hard for a long time, putting things together and just trying to get them in shape enough for people to give a s**t," the 35-year-old said. "Then you get to a place where people are just like, 'Yeah, let's do it,' and suddenly you're playing musical chairs with yourself."

He also divulged to the publication that he isn't interested in doing Marvel movies or Oscar-bait dramas.

Powell will soon be seen in the disaster film Twisters, and he recently signed up to star in Edgar Wright's The Running Man.
