Tom Hardy doesn’t just save his tough guy credentials for the movies, after it emerged that he chased down and caught a moped thief in London on Sunday.

According to reports in The Sun, the Batman star took off after two ‘yobs’ stole a moped, and then crashed it into a Mercedes before fleeing the scene.

Chasing one of them through gardens and over a building site, Hardy eventually collared the thief in Richmond, south west London, before making a citizen’s arrest, patting him down for weapons and waiting for police to arrive.

A witness told the paper that Hardy ‘announced proudly’: “I caught the c***.”

22-year-old Arun Pullen, who said he witnessed the incident, added: “It was mental – like he’d switched to superhero mode in an action movie.

“Two boys on the nicked moped had jumped a red light and smashed into a car.

“Tom must have been walking down the road. He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious. If the kid had been dumb enough to resist I reckon Tom would have given him a good hiding.

“The kid looked wrecked and in shock. Tom Hardy’s clearly not a man you’d mess with. I think he even checked the kid’s ID before cops took over.

“I asked Tom what happened and he told me he chased him through my back garden and caught him around the block — but the route was like an assault course.”

The two suspects are now facing theft charges, according to reports.

“Tom did a great public service,” Pullen added.

So far, Hardy’s reps have declined to comment on the matter.
