The fleets of limos dropping couture-clad starlets ready to be papped might have been missing, but that didn’t mean the A-list tuning in to the 78th annual Golden Globes 2021 forwent the opportunity for a high fashion moment, as they turned their living rooms, hotel rooms and gardens into a remote red carpet.

Emma Corrin, who won the Best Actress award for her turn as Princess Diana in Netflix’s The Crown, was a hot contender for best dressed on the night wearing a monochrome Miu Miu dress with fittingly regal collar and emerald and diamond jewellery from Cartier.

Also embracing the excuse to ditch the PJs were fellow British actresses Rosamund Pike, who took home the gong for Best Actress in a Comedy Film forI Care a Lot, and Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan, both of whom chose to support London-based designer Molly Goddard. Pike posed from her hotel room in a frothy fuchsia number accessorised with chunky combat boots, while Coughlan opted for a lemon yellow tulle-tastic creation paired with a pop of neon pink eye shadow.

Opting for a more traditional Hollywood starlet ensemble was Amanda Seyfried, nominated for Best Supporting Actress, who tuned in from home in a custom Oscar de la Renta silk sorbet gown embroidered with taffeta pressed flowers. Kaley Cuoco also chose to wear a shimmering silver gown from the brand paired with Harry Winston jewellery, for a photo shoot by her swimming pool.

Elsewhere, Dior was a popular option. Gillian Anderson tuned in wearing a long gold lamé halterneck dress from the haute couture spring/summer 2021 collection paired with a Dior clutch and shoes, as well as Dior jewellery. Queens Gambit star Anya Taylor-Joy also rocked a dramatic emerald green lurex Dior Haute Couture dress and evening coat with matching shoes.

Among the select few to attend the event in person, Margot Robbie, one of the evening’s presenters, looked sweet and summery in a polka dot dress from Chanel’s spring/summer 2021 collection, while Cynthia Ervo gave a lesson in how to nail haute highlighter hues in a sculptural apple green Valentino dress from Pierpaoli Picciolini’s spring/ summer couture collection paired with white opera gloves and silver platforms.

Remote or real, the red carpet still rocked.
