Golden Globes 2021 nominations: 'Mank' and 'The Crown' lead the way
The nominees for the 78th Golden Globes have been announced as Mank and The Crown lead contenders with six nods each.
David Fincher's biopic of Old Hollywood screenwriter Herman J Mankiewicz earned him an acknowledgement for Best Director while the film picked up a nod for Best Picture (Drama), Best Original Score and Best Screenplay for Jack Fincher as well as acting nominations for Gary Oldman (Best Actor, Drama) and Amanda Seyfried (Best Supporting Actress).
The late Chadwick Boseman also received a posthumous nod in the Best Actor category for his lauded role in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, his last feature film.
Meanwhile, Emerald Fennell’s Promising Young Woman saw her recognised for both Best Director and Best Screenplay with a further two nominations for Best Picture (Drama) and Best Actress for Carey Mulligan.
The Crown - which counts Fennell among its cast - took the lead in television with six nominations overall, including Best Drama Series.

Several cast members are up against each other as Olivia Colman (Queen Elizabeth II) and Emma Corrin (Princess Diana) are nominated for Best Actress as Helena Bonham Carter (Princess Margaret) and Gillian Anderson (Margaret Thatcher) are in contention for the Best Supporting Actress gong.
Prince Charles star Josh O'Connor is also nominated for Best Actor.
The winners will be unveiled by hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler at the event on 28 February, which will be the early hours of 1 March in the UK.
It comes as the awards ceremony has been delayed by almost two months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
