Gossip: Henrikh Mkhitaryan touted for Man United exit, Liverpool handed Philippe Coutinho transfer boost and more

Henrikh Mkhitaryan has fallen out of favour at Manchester United

Henrikh Mkhitaryan was the Premier League assist king for the first few weeks of the campaign and a Fantasy Football points winner extraordinaire.

That seems a long time ago now and the Mirror claim the winger is being “eyed up” by Borussia Dortmund, and not in a pervy way.

Despite his promising start to the season, the United man has fallen into Jose Mourinho’s bad books in recent weeks, but the Armenian could be rescued from Jose’s stony cold stare by his former employers, who are considering a January move.

Guess it was always going to be difficult in England for a man whose surname starts with three consonants, especially post-Brexit.

Conte demands Chelsea act over key duo

Meanwhile, Antonio Conte has gone upstairs to have his weekly argument with the Chelsea board, this time about their ponderous contract negotiations with Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois.

The Express says Conte has “warned” the Blues hierarchy they need to give new contracts to the Belgian duo before the World Cup, after which he believes they could become “bigger targets” for rival clubs. Belgium do have three really easy group games in Russia, to be fair.

Liverpool given Coutinho transfer boost

How much is Christian Eriksen worth these days? About £100m a few weeks ago when he had goals coming out of his ears? Or maybe about £20m after his last couple of dodgy performances. It’s difficult to say, but what we do know is that he would cost less than Philippe Coutinho. And this, allegedly, is Barcelona’s main concern.

The Mirror reports that the Catalan giants have “switched their attention” from Liverpool’s brilliant Brazilian to Tottenham’s great Dane because, basically, the Spurs man is cheaper.

There’s a reason for that, of course, which is that Coutinho has many more goals and assists than Eriksen this season despite playing far fewer games. But on the plus side, this makes the latter “more attainable” as Barca’s hopes of landing Coutinho “fade”.

We don’t know exactly how much Eriksen would cost, although he was apparently offered to Real Madrid for £63m in the summer. That rumour does sound a bit made up though.

North London duo want Real Madrid midfielder

Arsenal and Tottenham are set to do battle for Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to Calciomercato. The 21-year-old is said to be “unhappy” due his lack of playing time at the Bernabeu. But would he more unhappy if he had to play alongside Moussa Sissoko or Granit Xhaka in midfield every week? Think about it, son.

Meanwhile, alleged Arsenal target has Arda Turan has been “spotted” in London, posing with his agent, by the Sun (and everyone else who has access to Instagram).

Elsewhere, the Gunners are keen on Sevilla’s former Stoke and Blackburn midfielder Steven Nzonzi (Sun) Sam Allardyce wants to keep Ross Barkley at Everton but fears the midfielder will leave on a free transfer in the summer (Liverpool Echo) and Lionel Messi has “told Neymar” who Barcelona will be signing in January – and it’s the £44m Gremio starlet Arthur (Express). And presumably after Messi told Neymar, the Brazilian immediately told the Express because it’s his favourite paper.
