Harry and Meghan: Jada Pinkett Smith and Gabrielle Union among celebrities to react after Oprah interview
Gabrielle Union and Jada Pinkett Smith are among the celebrities who have reacted to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The TV event, which aired in the US on CBS on Sunday (7 March), saw the couple give their first sit-down interview since stepping back as senior members of the royal family.
During the interview, they spoke at length about their struggles with mental health, racism and their relationship with the palace.
In a series of stunning revelations, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex accused the palace of fostering an atmosphere of hostility that reached a point where Markle contemplated taking her own life. “I was ashamed to say it at the time... I just didn’t want to be alive any more. And that was a very real and clear and frightening and constant thought,” she shared.

Markle also claimed that a member of the royal family relayed concerns regarding “how dark” the skin of their son Archie would be when he is born.
Prince Harry spoke about how he felt really “let down” by Prince Charles as he longed for the public support of his family, particularly during a time when his wife faced scrutiny from the British tabloids.
In a lighthearted moment, the couple revealed that they are due to welcome a baby girl sometime later in the summer.

Reacting to the programme, Bring it On star Union tweeted: “The tabloids are HOSTED by the palace?!?!?!?!?! WHEW.”
She also retweeted messages of support to Markle and tweets comparing Markle’s treatment by the press to that of the late Princess Diana.
Jada Pinkett Smith, meanwhile, joked that the Queen would be the next guest on her show Red Table Talk.

Such a moving interview. @Oprah remains the absolute best to ever do it.
Love that they got out since it will be better for everyone. So happy Meghan got her voice back after having it silenced. Her voice is one we need more of. Love their love🥺💕#HarryandMeghanonOprah— Chrishell (@Chrishell7) March 8, 2021

The royal family repeatedly expressed concerns about her baby’s skin colour.
They discussed not giving him a royal title.
They failed to protect her from tabloid race-baiting.
