Green Carpet Fashion Awards Set L.A. Return With Co-Chairs Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore and Zendaya

The Green Carpet Fashion Awards, the annual celebration of fashion and entertainment for positive transformation, will return to Los Angeles on March 6. This year’s event will be co-chaired by GCFA founder Livia Firth; actresses Cate Blanchett, Julianne Moore, Zendaya and Helen Hunt; Annie Lennox; Minister of Indigenous Peoples of Brazil Sônia Guajajara; and Ugandan climate justice activist Vanessa Nakate.

The selection of the GCFA’s yearly honorees is evaluated according to six cultural archetypes: The Visionary, The Messenger, The Rebel, The Healer, The Sage and The Futurist. Embodying these roles in the sustainable landscape, the awards recognize those who bring together the next generation of global leaders driving political, social and environmental solutions for a brighter collective future.

The Green Carpet Fashion Awards made its U.S. debut during Oscars week last March, in an event co-chaired by Blanchett, Simone Ashley, Quannah Chasinghorse, Viola Davis, Tom Ford, Salma Hayek and Simu Liu. The 2023 GCFA honorees included Guajajara (presented by Leonardo DiCaprio), Tom Ford, Alicia Silverstone and British Vogue‘s Edward Enninful (presented by Jodie Turner-Smith).

Blanchett has previously been active in promoting sustainability on the red carpet, and last year while on the awards circuit for Tár she was often spotted in looks she had worn to previous events. At the 2023 GCFA event, she wore a custom mint Valentino suit crafted from archival and deadstock fabric.

Zendaya has also embraced sustainable fashion — and in 2020 received the Visionary Award at that year’s GCFA in Milan — while Moore was an early supporter of the Green Carpet challenge of wearing sustainable brands on red carpets.
