Bad Boys 4 is happening following the success of Bad Boys for Life in 2020, and now it has found its villain.

As reported by Deadline, the film has cast Grey's Anatomy and Euphoria star Eric Dane as its baddie. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are obviously returning, while Paola Núnez, Vanessa Hudgens and Alexander Ludwig are also expected to return.

The plot of the film is currently being kept under wraps.

The film will serve as a comeback for Will Smith after his 2022 Oscars slap controversy, although Sony chairman Tom Rothman stated that wasn't the reason why Bad Boys 4 was taking so long.

"There weren’t any brakes to pump because the car wasn’t moving. That was a very unfortunate thing that happened, and I don’t think it’s really my place to comment, except to say that I’ve known Will Smith for many years, and I know him to be a good person," he said.

"That was an example of a very good person having a very bad moment, in front of the world. I believe his apology and regret is genuine, and I believe in forgiveness and redemption."

But things got back on track this year, with Smith uploading a TikTok video where he turned up at Lawrence's house and the duo declared that they were indeed bad boys for life and that the fourth movie was finally happening.

Last year, it was announced that Lawrence was returning to TV for the first time in nearly a decade with the show Damascus, which has been described as a "comedic, genre-fluid, coming-of-age" tale, "with a reality-bending premise that explores the gulf between Black male perspectives, while also attempting to answer: 'Who am I?'"
