Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh reprises iconic movie role

Sandra Oh has returned in the role of Geraldine Gupta from The Princess Diaries for a very special reason.

The Grey's Anatomy star recreated one of the most iconic scenes of Garry Marshall's 2001 film to introduce a guest of honour on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

The clip that's gone viral sees Oh at a desk picking up a phone and nodding, uttering a series of uh-huh's before announcing solemnly, "The Queen is coming".

While in the film this scene referred to Julie Andrews' character – Clarisse Renaldi, Queen regent of Genovia – this updated version introduced Princess Diaries' Anne Hathaway, ready for a chat with Clarkson on the show.

Oh is among the OG Princess Diaries stars who are keen to return in a follow-up to 2004's The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, previously announced with Hathaway and screenwriter Aadrita Mukerji (Reacher) onboard.

"I am ready for the Queen. Call me!" Oh told Entertainment Weekly despite her absence from the second film. "I'm dying to see how Gupta has moved up in the world."

As for Andrews, it seems that the Queen of Genovia doesn't think returning to the saga would be the best idea.

"It's quite a long time now since the two Diaries were done, and I'm not sure, but sometimes it's best to leave a good thing alone," she said appearing on Today in March.

"I don't like it when people milk and milk and milk the subject, you know, 'til it's dead," she added.

The Sound of Music star then suggested that the threequel has been "shelved". "I think, I may be wrong, but I think it's been shelved now – I can't be sure," she said.
