Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 Concept Art Reveals New Alien

Here’s our first look at ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’.

Appearing in the latest issue of Empire Magazine, this impressive concept art unveils one of the new aliens from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’. And it looks as though the Guardians have their work cut out for them.

But what is this new alien menace?

“First digital look at Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 concept art shared in the new Empire Magazine,” said the film’s director, James Gunn via Facebook. “Whoo hoo! Have a great week everybody! Art by Andy Park”

Unfortunately, very little is known about this alien entity.

But James Gunn has revealed we’ve seen it before.

“That’s him,” he said, confirming that it’s the same creature which was featured in the recent SDCC trailer… adding: “[It’s] an Abilisk.”

He also confirmed that this new creature is in the final movie.

But what is it?

“It’s evocative of the hundreds of pulp magazine covers within that style,” he said, when asked if it was inspired by the Justice League comic, Brave and the Bold #28. “That would be among them, yes.”

But it’s also very reminiscent of the monster in his earlier movie, ‘Slither’.

And that hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“I just can’t escape the tentacles, no matter what type of movie I’m making.”

No doubt we’ll find out more about the Abilisk in the coming months. At least, an official trailer reveal will probably give us a brief glimpse of this horrific alien monster. But will the ‘Guardians’ come out on top?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Either way, Groot looks as though he’s having a whale of a time.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Sylvester Stallone, and Kurt Russell.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ heads to cinemas on 28 April 2017.
