We all know that keeping track of all the Marvel movies can be difficult sometimes. But you’d think that the actors in them would be able to remember them all, right?

Wrong, apparently. At least that seems to be the case for Gwyneth Paltrow, who didn’t realise she was even in one of them. Spider-Man: Homecoming to be exact.

She was put right by Marvel co-star Jon Favreau recently when she appeared in his new cooking series The Chef Show.

Favreau was telling the story of the origins of his new reality show, explaining how it all started when the pair were filming Spider-Man: Homecoming. But the Shakespeare In Love actress was adamant she wasn’t in the movie.

“We weren’t in Spider-Man.”

“Yes, we were. You were in Spider-Man.”

“No.”

“Yeah.”

“I was in Avengers.”

Favreau kept his cool throughout the comical exchange. “No, you were in Spider-Man also. Remember Spider-Man at the end. Tom Holland’s there and you’re going to walk out and do a press conference. And I give you a ring. That was Spider-Man.”

“That was Spider-Man? Oh my God!”

The moment when she realised her mistake provoked genuine laughter from Paltrow, Favreau and co-chef Roy Choi.

In the scene she had forgotten, Faveau’s character Hap reveals an engagement ring, which he says he’s been carrying since 2008 – a nod to the first Iron Man movie. But which Avengers movie did Paltrow think she was in?

The Goop founder recently gave a biog shout out to Favreau on her Instagram for starting off the superhero juggernaut with the first Iron Man movie.

There are 22 movies in the Marvel cinematic universe. Favreau has executive produced seven of them.
