Gwyneth Paltrow says co-parenting with Chris Martin 'not as good as it looks'

Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay’s Chris Martin famously “consciously uncoupled” in a high profile 2014 divorce, but she’s since said in a new interview that her relationship with the singer is “better than our marriage was.”

Paltrow and Martin co-parent their children Apple and Moses together and appear to have a solid friendship, with the pair seen last year going on a double date skiing holiday with their partners Brad Falchuk and Dakota Johnson. Paltrow also appears to be friends with Johnson.

She opened up about how they’ve made things work in an interview with Drew Barrymore on her self-titled talkshow, explaining, “It's like you're ending a marriage but you're still in a family. That's how it will be forever.”

"Some days it's not as good as it looks,” she added, “We also have good days and bad days, but I think it's driving towards the same purpose of unity and love and what's best for [our kids]."

Paltrow and Martin were married for ten years before announcing their divorce in 2014 through a Goop newsletter. While the pair have both moved on, she continued, "We have this idea that just because we break up we can't love the things about the person anymore that we loved and that's not true.”

She said, “My divorce and my relationship with Chris now is better than our marriage was, so I think that it can be done."

Barrymore also praised Paltrow for her use of the phrase "conscious uncoupling" to describe their divorce in their interview, saying, "You literally gave a euphemism for divorce that makes us all feel like we're saying it with a flair of dignity and hope."

Paltrow married film producer Brad Falchuk last summer in a surprise ceremony. Falchuk has two children from a previous marriage. Martin has been 50 Shades of Grey actor Dakota Johnson since 2017 and they appear to have spent quarantine together in the US, as Martin was seen in the background of her handwashing PSA video.
