Halle Berry would reprise John Wick role 'in a heartbeat'

Halle Berry would happily return to the role of Sofia in the John Wick franchise.

The Gothika star made her debut as ex-assassin Sofia alongside Keanu Reeves' John Wick in 2019's John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. While many expected her to be involved in the next instalment, Sofia was noticeably absent from 2023's John Wick: Chapter 4.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Berry confirmed that she would gladly play Sofia again if director Chad Stahelski reached out.

"(I would do it) in a heartbeat. I loved that character, and I love Chad," she stated.

In the third film, Sofia was introduced as John's former friend and the manager of the Continental Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco. She helped him in his fight against the High Table organisation to repay a debt after he rescued her daughter and placed her into hiding.

At the time, Sofia indicated that her daughter could be in trouble if she helped John, leading many to wonder if this storyline would be picked up in a future film.

Addressing that plot thread, Berry told the outlet, "Yeah, I wish that would've happened, but that's not the route they went. I thought that would've been a cool storyline. We talked about it, that's for sure. We seeded it in John Wick: Chapter 3, and we've talked about a spin-off with Lionsgate that could potentially happen. We need to do it sooner than later, but that could potentially happen."

She added, "I love that universe. I love John Wick and I loved that character, so you never know. We'll see."

A fifth John Wick film is in development, while the franchise has already spawned two spin-offs; The Continental TV series and the upcoming Ana de Armas-starring movie Ballerina.
