However, it has now gained the endorsement of the show itself, with Hamilton's official Twitter account rating it a very justified 14/10.

"This is Alexander (and Eliza)," they wrote. "They're helpless. Good dog, would pet. 14/10 (cc: @dog_rates)."

Following Hamilton's premiere on the streaming platform, there has been some criticism directed at the show, with debates reignited over the founding fathers' links to slavery – notably figures like Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and George Washington keeping enslaved people.

Responding to the criticisms on social media, creator Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted: "All the criticisms are valid. The sheer tonnage of complexities & failings of these people I couldn't get. Or wrestled with but cut.

"I took 6 years and fit as much as I could in a 2.5 hour musical. Did my best. It's all fair game."

Hamilton is now available to watch on Disney+. Tickets to see Hamilton on stage in 2021 are available on Ticketmaster.
