Hamilton has been the must-see musical since it premiered in 2015, and now it might become the must-see movie of summer 2020.

A live performance was filmed all the way back in 2016, and was the centre of a major bidding war between the studios, with The Walt Disney Company snapping it up for its streaming service Disney+.

Ahead of the release on July 3 (just before Independence Day), a new trailer has been released to get us all excited. Well, even more excited.

Since it was filmed so long ago, that means that it'll be Lin-Manuel Miranda you'll be seeing as Alexander Hamilton. He hasn't been part of the main cast for a few years, since he went off to do Mary Poppins Returns, His Dark Materials and dedicating his Twitter feed to how bizarre and wonderful Wales is.

This production also features Snowpiercer and Black-ish star Daveed Diggs, and Smash's Leslie Odom Jr, both of whom have spoken about the film coming to streaming.

Diggs said he was "terrified" of the musical becoming even more popular, since he's not one for watching things he's done but now he feels that he has to.

Odom Jr was more positive about the release, previously telling Digital Spy that he hopes that Hamilton will bring joy to people around the world in trying times.

Hamilton will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on July 3. Information about tickets for Hamilton on stage can be found on Ticketmaster.
