Han Solo Movie Casting Young Lando Calrissian

It looks as though Lando is back in the new ‘Star Wars’ spin-off.

According to The Wrap, we can expect another classic ‘Star Wars’ character to appear in the upcoming Han Solo spin-off movie – none other than Lando Calrissian.

“Han Solo is getting a gambling buddy — his standalone ‘Star Wars’ spinoff film is casting a young Lando Calrissian,” they revealed. “Fans have speculated about which of the characters from Solo’s complicated past might turn up in ‘Han Solo’, and now we know at least one.”

And we might even know who’s playing him…

According to Devin Faraci at Birth.Movies.Death there’s already a frontrunner – ‘Community’ star, Donald Glover.

“Donald Glover is the first choice for Young Lando,” he revealed. “Will he do it? I’m not even sure there’s an offer out there, but at Star Wars Celebration this year directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller told a story about hiring Alden Ehrenreich to play Han Solo…”

Essentially, the story goes that directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller picked Alden Ehrenreich as their first choice for Han Solo from the very beginning – he was the first actor they saw. A lengthy casting process ensued where they saw hundreds (if not thousands) of actors for the role… and they still went with Alden Ehrenreich in the end.

Could the same happen for Donald Glover?

He certainly makes an interesting choice.

Best known for ‘Community’, the 32-year-old actor and comedian has also landed a role in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’. Crucially, he’s funny and smooth – everything that Lando should be… and he could definitely carry the role without trying too hard.

Will he land the role?

For now, we have to wait and see… but let’s hope Lando still has that awesome cape.

The ‘Han Solo’ spin-off heads to cinemas on 25 May 2018.
