Hannibal Buress to Host 19th Annual Webby Awards

Hannibal Buress will host the 19th Annual Webby Awards, which will take place May 18 at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

The standup comedian, who’s hosting the show for the first time, has a huge digital following with over 400,000 Twitter followers and more than 120,000 on Instagram.

Buress been a series regular on Comedy Central’s “Broad City,” and the co-host on “The Eric Andre Show” on Adult Swim. He also appeared in “Neighbors,” alongside Seth Rogen and Zac Efron, and has written for “30 Rock” and “Saturday Night Live.” Most recently, he was featured during Comedy Central’s Justin Bieber roast. Coming up this summer, the comic will topline in his own Comedy Central seres “Why? With Hannibal Buress.”

He isn’t someone who just gets Internet culture — he is literally helping to shape it every day,” said David-Michel Davies, exec director of The Webby Awards. “We are excited to have him bring his funny and brilliant corner of the Web to life at this year’s show.”

The Webby Awards will stream online the morning after the ceremony, May 19 on WebbyAwards.com.
