Harley Quinn Tried Her Iconic Costume In Suicide Squad

Harley Quinn’s Jester suit almost appeared in ‘Suicide Squad’.

During a recent set visit, Comicbook.com found out that Margot Robbie had a costume test which featured Harley Quinn’s classic comic book look… and we might even see it someday.

“The Jester suit has such an amazing powerful quality to it,” said costume designer Kate Hawley. “We’ve built it. We’ve built that and we actually put it on Margot and she looked amazing.”

But sadly, she won’t be wearing it in the movie.

“You have so many different ways in which you could dress her,” said producer Richard Suckle. “And it was almost sad to actually have to say - as much as we want her to be wearing, let’s say, the one piece suit, that’s not really right for what we’re doing in this movie.”

“But we’ve designed it; she put it on. Just going through her hair, makeup, and wardrobe tests was a real treat,” Suckle revealed. “We tried so many different things and so many different things that would be iconic that hopefully will live in other films, if we’re lucky enough to make other films.”

Could this mean that the one-piece will be back in future ‘Suicide Squad’ films?

Actually, it might get here a lot sooner… as Comicbook.com believe we may see those incredible costume tests on the ‘Suicide Squad’ DVD and Blu-ray.

“[Producer Richard] Suckle teased that things like their costume tests, since they were so elaborate (especially for Harley) could wind up on the home release later, as well,” they said.

Will Harley Quinn’s classic costume ever see the light of day?

We certainly hope so.

“She has so many iconic looks, so we really had a challenge,“ said Suckle. “[Harley] has become the most popular, if not successful female character in the DC [Comics] world.”

‘Suicide Squad’ heads to cinemas on 5 August 2016.
