Yahoo Movies Harrison Ford’s original Star Wars script from 1976 to be auctioned
The actor left the script in a flat he was staying in whilst A New Hope was in production
Harrison Ford's original script for the first Star Wars film is set to be sold for auction, after it was left by the actor in a London flat he was living in during production in 1976.
The genuine item is a revised fourth draft of the franchise’s first film and it bears the production's original title "The Adventures of Luke Star Killer as taken from the Journal of the Whills", the film went on to be named A New Hope. Ford famously starred in the film as Han Solo, the loveable smuggler who joins Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and helps him rescue Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) from Darth Vader (James Earl Jones).
Ford's script is being sold as an unbound and incomplete copy, and it is being put on auction by Excalibur Auctions’ Collectors' Cavern Auction on 17 February. The item also features an array of different colour pages and includes scenes and characters that were eventually cut from the film when its final, fifth draft was written.
Excalibur Actions estimate that it could go for between £8,000 and £12,000. The company will be selling a number of items from Ford that were discovered by the people who rented him the Notting Hill flat at the time the first film was being made.

The owners, a married couple, lived on the bottom floors of the house in Elgin Crescent while Ford occupied the top two floors. He was described as being an "excellent" and "very tidy" tenant by the owners, and at the time he was often visited by Hamill and Fisher though they were, like Ford, up-and-coming actors at the time.
Reflecting on their time together, the couple said: "Summer 1976 was a great time. Harrison was an ideal tenant. It really was a fun time.”
When the couple first found the script they kept hold of it for the memories but no, they have decided it should be offered to the public. Other items they have given to the auction house include shooting schedules, a call sheet and a collection of notes, which will be sold as a group lot with an estimated price of between £800 and £1,200.
A final item included in the collection is a letter from Ford’s agent, Patricia McQueeney, in which they talked about contracts and future film projects. This item is expected to sell for between £60 and £80.
Sharing a statement about the auction, Excalibur Auctions’ auctioneer Jonathan Torode said: "Although other copies of this script have come to market previously, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be able to offer a version with such wonderful provenance and attribution to Harrison Ford.
“The touching backstory to these items adds even more appeal for avid Star Wars fans and we anticipate huge interest from around the globe.”
The Excalibur Auctions’ Collectors' Cavern Auction takes place on 17 February.
