Harry Potter star Jim Tavaré in intensive care after head-on crash

Comedian and actor Jim Tavaré is in intensive care following a head-on car crash.

Tavaré, 54, who played Tom the Innkeeper in ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’, owner of the Leaky Cauldron, broke his neck in the collision.

He’s also suffered a punctured lung in the collision, 15 broken ribs, breaks in his right leg and a fractured breastbone.

Tavaré’s wife Laura let fans know through his Facebook page.

“Now that his family have been informed, Jim has asked me to let you all know that he was involved in a serious car accident yesterday, a head-on collision,” she wrote.

“He’s currently in ICU intensive care. He’s had 2 blood transfusions so far and is about to go in for his first surgery.

“This is for real, not a movie role. Please hold some good thoughts for him as he fights his way out of this.”

Essex-born, Tavaré, who has also appeared in shows like ‘Californication’ and ‘Chuck’, now lives in Los Angeles with his wife and his two children.

With his double bass, he was a regular feature on the stand-up circuit of the 90s and 2000s, and also co-wrote and starred in BAFTA-winning comedy series ‘The Sketch Show’ with Tim Vine, Lee Mack and Ronni Ancona.
