Harry Potter star Jason Isaacs has joined the cast of Agent Game, an indie spy thriller that has already cast the Arrowverse's Katie Cassidy and Mad Max's Mel Gibson.

The Lucious Malfoy and Star Trek: Discovery actor has been cast, alongside Captain Phillips' Barkhad Abdi and X-Men: Days of Future Past's Adan Canto, in the upcoming project from Nighthawks director Grant S Johnson.

The film will tell the story of a CIA agent who detains foreign nationals for interrogation and gets framed for the killing of a detainee following the death of his boss (played by Isaacs).

A team of operatives is sent after him, led by Gibson's rogue intelligence officer, which he must avoid to try to clear his name.

Recently, Isaacs paid a touching tribute to Helen McCrory, the legendary actress who played his on-screen wife Narcissa Malfoy in the Harry Potter films, after she sadly passed away this month at the age of 52.

"Decades ago Helen and I auditioned together for a film," he said. "I came home and said to Emma (Hewitt, his wife) 'I think I've just met the greatest actress I've ever seen.' After years of watching her mesmerise audiences I don't think that any more... I know it," he wrote.

"Luckily, I eventually found out that she was also scabrously funny, shockingly naughty and with an empathetic heart the size of a planet."
