Truly, the best man won ITV’s I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here last night.

Football legend Harry Redknapp was named ‘King of the Jungle’, with Inbetweeners star Emily Atack landing in second place.

But poor Sandra.

Harry pronounced his intention to, erm, pay his wife of over 50 years some extra attention following his time in the Australian outback taking part in the annual game show.

Asked how he’d coped without Sandra, who het met as a teenager, he said: “It was very difficult, it was very difficult.

“She’s got a bit of grinding coming… Where is she? I’m ready for her!”

The ‘grinding’ bit referred to a show highlight, during which X Factor singer Fleur East and Hollyoaks star Malique Thompson-Dwyer schooled him on modern slang terms.

Harry’s footballer son Jamie also shared an emotional video on Instagram of he and his sons leaping from the sofa when they saw their granddad win the series on a giant home cinema screen.

“Go on dad!” Redknapp can be heard shouting, adding ‘He’ll hate this bit’ as he was showered in confetti and made to walk the red carpet over the bridge and back to civilisation.

71-year-old Harry was the odds-on favourite to win from early on in this series, thanks to his easy-going manner, his brilliant anecdotes and, of course, his love for wife Sandra, who was never far from conversation.

Harry met Sandra at the Two Puddings in Stratford, East London, in 1963.

They married a few years later and have been together ever since. He said that meeting her was like ‘winning the lottery’.
