The headlines from 'Strictly' at Blackpool - who has left the competition?

Kate Silverton has been voted out of Strictly Come Dancing in the competition’s weekend at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom- saving Graeme Swann for the third time.

The BBC newsreader and her dance partner Aljaz Skorjaec lost out in the dance off to Graeme Swann and Oti Mabuse, who were in the bottom two for the third time in the series so far.

However, the cricketer scraped through to dance another week once more with his musical-inspired theatre/jazz routine as all four judges decided that it was Kate’s time to go following her American Smooth to Everlasting Love.

Kate said: “I am actually weirdly, perversely, not that I would have wanted to go out, but on a night like tonight in such a place, I couldn’t have asked for anything better really.

“I got to dance twice, went up in a hot air balloon twice, and I loved it twice. We have had eleven weeks and you got me ballroom dancing. I am forever grateful to this man.”

Aljaz added: “Every week going out there and delivering incredible performances, for someone that has never performed in her life I am so incredibly proud of you.

“You have taught me so much, you’re such an incredible woman, you’re an incredible mother and thank you, honestly it has been an amazing series.”

There was also relief for Lauren Steadman and AJ Pritchard, who had been at the bottom of the leaderboard but managed to avoid the dance off completely.

The show opened with an impressive group dance that for the first time since the launch night featured the celebrities as well as the pros.

Blackpool’s audience were also treated to Take That (down to just three these days, if you’re struggling to keep abreast of the line-up changes) singing their new track, Out of Our Heads.

Graeme must be sick to death of dancing twice each weekend, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for him that the voters give him more of a boost next week.

However, even if he tops the leaderboard, he’ll still be performing two routines as the celebrities will all be dancing the Lindy Hop next week at the same time in an extra round.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday, November 24 at 6.50pm on BBC One.
