Helen Mirren has officially drawn a line under her days of on-screen nudity.

The 70-year-old actress, who has appeared nude in a host of films over her career, said that the time for seeing her ‘pleasure pillows’ is over.

- The Rock has had to put down one of his puppies
- Trainspotting 2 confirmed for next summer
- Aaron Sorkin sorry for slating Apple boss

She added that while she never particularly chose to appear in the buff in her movies, it ended up being no big deal.

Speaking to actor Alan Cumming in an interview on CBS, she said: “I was doing nude scenes [from] the first moment I started doing movies. It was the era. It seemed to be nothing to get your knickers in a twist over.

“When I did 'Caligula’ it was ‘shock horror,’ triple X, only in porn cinemas – now 'Game of Thrones’ is on at 8 o’clock at night, and it is exactly what I did in 'Caligula’.

“Basically every scene is sex, upfront.”

But she seems pleased to have put all that sort of thing behind her.

“That’s the good thing about getting older. You don’t have to do that sort of thing any more. [Now] my pleasure pillows are purely for my husband,” she added.

She recently bemoaned the vanity of Hollywood leading men, when it comes to their bodies.

Speaking to The Guardian, she said: “It’s absolutely incredible. They all have to have these ridiculous bodies now that are completely unrealistic.

“And it’s very hard to find a male actor with a real body. They all have to be in the gym for three or four hours a day. Tedious. Awful.”

Mirren is next up – fully clothed – in 'Trumbo’, the biopic of blacklisted screenwriter Dalton Trumbo, alongside Bryan Cranston (you can check the trailer below).

It’s due out January 22 in the UK.
