Henry Cavill has landed his next lead movie role, with the actor reuniting with director Guy Ritchie for a new blockbuster.

The pair have worked together twice before – 2015’s The Man from U.N.C.L.E and the upcoming The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare – and Deadline are reporting that they will team up once more for a currently untitled action film.

The plot will reportedly follow "two extraction specialists who must plan an escape path for a high-level female negotiator", with the film set to contain Ritchie’s trademark humour and fast-paced action.

Cavill won’t be the only Ritchie collaborator appearing in the film, with both Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza Gonzalez featuring following roles in The Covenant and The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare respectively.

Ritchie, who earlier this year released the long-awaited Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre, said of the currently untitled project: "There’s something special that happens when you collaborate with the same partners regularly.

"You build a shorthand and a trust that lets everybody do their best work," he continued. "Jake, Henry and Eiza are all astonishingly talented, committed, and engaging actors. This is going to be an action-packed movie that is both intellectually stimulating and physically exhilarating."

The project is the latest in a long line for Cavill following his departure as Superman at the end of last year, with the actor spearheading an adaptation of the Warhammer video-game series.

"For 30 years I have dreamt of seeing a Warhammer universe in live action. Now, after 22 years of experience in this industry, I finally feel that I have the skill set and experience to guide a Warhammer Cinematic Universe into life," he said when announcing the television series.

"Having a home like Amazon will give us the freedom to be true to the massive scope of Warhammer," he added. "To all of you Warhammer fans out there, I promise to respect this IP that we love. I promise to bring you something familiar. And I endeavour to bring you something fantastic that is, as of yet, unseen."
