If you've ever wondered how, exactly, The Late Late Show host James Corden manages to chat with celebrities, sing their hits with them and keep his eyes on the road, we have your answer - he doesn't always drive.
If you were wildly impressed with Corden's ability to multitask, prepare to have your mind blown. Sometimes, the Cats star is behind the wheel - but his car is being towed.
Saw James corden and Justin Bieber filming carpool karaoke and this is why I have trust issues — he isn't even driving! pic.twitter.com/bkP9moGJmu— Zoli ⚡️ (@zolihonig)January 23, 2020
Twitter user @ZoliHonig shared a photo of Justin and Bieber carpooling together, and as one commenter said, it's really more of a "car pull."
Honig joked, "Next thing you know they gonna tell us that his friends don't *actually* need a ride."
While some on Twitter expressed their outrage and disappointment, others explained that it wouldn't exactly be safe to drive through Los Angeles traffic while singing, filming and trying to get gossip out of an A-lister.
After the tweet went viral, The Late Late Show executive producer Ben Winston revealed that Corden usually drives celebrities around in the segment - and the "rig" is only used on special occasions.
Not true! We only use a rig when we are doing a "stunt" as part of the Carpool - when it would be impossible for James to drive! This has occurred only maybe 4 times in 50 or so carpools... Safety is key! https://t.co/kfJXqZqEHq— Ben Winston (@benwinston)January 23, 2020
Winston responded on Twitter and said, "We only use a rig when we are doing a ‘stunt’ as part of the Carpool – when it would be impossible for James to drive! This has occurred only maybe 4 times in 50 or so carpools… Safety is key!"
"By stunt I mean - dance routines / costumes / props etc," he continued, "Don't worry too much though. I'm pretty sure there are bigger issues to worry about!"
guys, we don't even use a real car pic.twitter.com/O0sxMwNFtP— The Late Late Show with James Corden (@latelateshow)January 23, 2020
The Late Late Show's official Twitter account also made fun of the uproar, sharing a picture of Corden with just a steering wheel. It tweeted, "guys, we don't even use a real car."
Biebs previously appeared on Carpool Karaoke back in 2015, where he was rocking quite a different look and sang 'Baby' and 'Boyfriend' cementing his place as a tween heartthrob.
In the interview, Bieber admitted that he only wears his Calvin Klein underwear one time before throwing them out. He also teaches Corden the meaning of swag.
In 2015, the popstar had yet to get married to model Hailey Baldwin Bieber and he didn't even have his face tattoo.
These days, Bieber is rocking a baby stache and a grill.
We just hope everyone is prepared for Corden's version of 'Yummy,' chock full of swag. They should be able to fully focus on the song - and their dance moves - since it's not like they have to keep their eyes on the road.
