Jonah Hill says his career has peaked after working with Martin Scorsese on The Wolf of Wall Street.

In an interview with MTV, the Oscar-nominated actor admitted that he didn't see a way to top the project, saying his time on the film was "the greatest experience of my life".

"I wrote him a note when we wrapped the film and exchanged gifts, I wrote him a note about how grateful I was to be included in the movie and I said, 'Well, the rest of my life is just egg noodles and ketchup,' which is [the line] at the end of GoodFellas," Hill explained.

"Like, how do you compare any other work experience to working with Martin Scorsese for six months? It was just the greatest experience of my life.

"Honestly, I've never been so proud of something in my life," he said. "I've never been so proud of a performance. I've never been so challenged by a performance. It's a very dream-like [time] for me. It's hard to imagine it being a reality."

Hill, who has been praised by critics for his performance as fraudster Donnie Azoff, also paid tribute to co-star Leonardo DiCaprio describing the actor as "one of the most loyal people I've ever met" and "one of the most gifted people I've ever met in my entire life," adding: "He makes everyone around him a better actor."

The Wolf of Wall Street hits cinemas on 17 January, 2014.
