Hocus Pocus has the Friends fountain in one of the scenes
Hocus Pocus will likely be on your annual Halloween rewatch list (and so it should be), but when you watch it this year, be sure to keep an eye out for a Friends connection you might not have spotted before.
Despite the fact that Hocus Pocus takes place in Salem, Massachusetts and Friends takes place in New York City, you'll be able to see the exact same Friends fountain during Hocus Pocus.
Yes, that Friends fountain. (Although technically since Hocus Pocus came out in 1993 before Friends started, perhaps we should start calling it the Hocus Pocus fountain.)
The fountain appears around an hour into Hocus Pocus after Max, Allison and Dani think they've defeated the Sanderson sisters by burning them alive.
As they celebrate in a nearby park (unaware that the witches have been resurrected already by the curse), you can spot the Friends fountain in the background behind Allison and Dani.
Now you might think that because it's dark and you don't see the fountain fully that it might not actually be the fountain and could just be another fountain with a similar water feature.
However, House Beautiful confirmed last year that it is the exact same fountain in Hocus Pocus and Friends.
But wait, Hocus Pocus isn't set in New York City, so how can it possibly be the same fountain? It's what they call movie (or even TV) magic.
Both Hocus Pocus and Friends were actually filmed on the Warner Bros Ranch in Los Angeles. You just wouldn't know it because in Friends, they edited the New York City skyline into the title sequence behind the fountain.
We hope you've never gone to Central Park hoping to spot the Friends fountain...
But if you want to do actually want to see the fountain made famous by Hocus Pocus and Friends, it's not at the Warner Bros Ranch any more either.
It was moved in 2019 to the main Warner Bros studio lot to preserve it for fans in the years to come and features as part of the Warner Bros Studio Tour in Hollywood.
At least now if you ever see it in person, you can choose to dance in front of it with umbrellas – or celebrate as though you've just killed some witches like Allison and Dani did.
