Hogwarts Express Steams Into Tour Attraction

The bright red steam engine which took Harry, Hermione and Ron to Hogwarts School in the Harry Potter film franchise has gone on display to the public.

The Warner Bros. Studio Tour, The Making Of Harry Potter, at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, has added the famous locomotive to its collection along with the magical Platform 9 3/4 from where it began its journey.

Visitors to the studio will be able to walk down the platform and board the Hogwarts Express while taking a look at some of the techniques used in bringing it to the screen.

Harry Potter star Mark Williams, who played Arthur Weasley in the films, was at the studios for a preview of what is in store for the public and explained why this train has become iconic.

"Firstly it was the beginning of every adventure. And also it is the point at which the muggle and wizard worlds intersect. It's only a thin wall between outside and inside and so it was very magical," he said.

The windows of the train will show scenes featured in the films, including Harry's first Chocolate Frog and the Dementors.

A selection of prop luggage will also be on show.

The new 20,000 square foot section of the exhibition will open to the public on 19 March.
