Following the heartbreaking reveal, the soap revealed a new social media campaign called ‘Ode To My Juliet’, which will be fronted by Blackshaw, with the aim of inviting viewers to “share their own cancer stories, memories, and bereavement journeys.”
“Juliet’s Hodgkin lymphoma is now terminal. Over the next few weeks, you’ll see Juliet tell loved ones, live out her last days, and then she is going to die,” said Blackshaw in the promotional video. “In a way to commemorate Juliet as a character, and to do something positive, we want to come together and share stories of loved ones who may have been touched by cancer.”
The emotional twist in tonight’s episode came after Juliet spent a stint in hospital battling norovirus, with the doctor informing her and Peri that she had recovered. However, the good mood was tempered after he revealed that Juliet’s kidney function had not improved.
