Home and Away's Georgie Parker explains Owen being written out

From Digital Spy

Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.

Home and Away's Roo Stewart is in for more heartbreak next week when her love interest Owen Davidson decides to leave town after they call time on their romance.

Last year Roo (Georgie Parker) cared for Ryder Jackson (Lukas Radovich)'s father Evan Slater (Cameron Daddo) while he was suffering from a terminal illness and grew very attached to him. After Evan's twin brother Owen (also played by Cameron) arrived in the Bay, Roo began dating him.

But in scenes that will air in the UK this coming week, Roo and Owen's relationship hits another stumbling block when, after thinking that they have sorted through their issues, they head to bed together.

Being intimate with Owen only confuses Roo further, as she is forced to accept that she still has unresolved feelings for Evan.

Actress Georgie Parker, who plays Roo, told Inside Soap that Roo is actually thinking about Evan while in bed with Owen and that Roo is "tied" to Evan "in a way that's hard to define", explaining that "her feelings for Owen get mixed up with that".

After Roo and Owen both realise that Roo simply can't let go of her memories of Evan, the couple decide that it would be best for them to go their separate ways and Evan makes plans to leave Summer Bay.

Georgie explained to Inside Soap that Owen's exit from the Bay is actually due to actor Cameron Daddo's packed schedule, but added that we might not necessarily have seen the last of him.

"I was hoping Owen could be a permanent relationship for Roo," she confessed. "He's a genuine, likeable man, and those qualities are rare. However, Cameroon has a very busy schedule, so the relationship had to come to an end. Owen's not dead, though, so there's a chance he could come back."

Georgie added that she is hopeful that Roo's dream partner is still out there, saying that she thinks it's about time her character found true love.

"I would like to see her have a significant relationship, as I've been on the show for 10 years, and we haven't really seen that," she said. "It'd be nice to see her with someone she could consider as a serious life partner."

Sadly it seems that Owen wasn't the one and Roo will be upset to see him go. She isn't the only one either, as Owen's nephew Ryder is set to get a shock when he finds out about Owen's departure.

How will Ryder handle the news?

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).
