So far, 'Hotel Transylvania' has grossed Sony Pictures Animation $253 million (£158 million), the studio's biggest haul yet.
The sequel will not be directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, who has directed the first film – he is to move on to direct Sony's reboot of 'Popeye' instead, due for release in September, 2014.
Meanwhile, 'Transylvania' continues to do good box office business, with its star-studded cast.
Adam Sandler plays Dracula, who runs a hotel for supernatural creatures from the Invisible Man to Frankenstein's monster, but all is jeopardised when a human backpacker, Jonathan, turns up to stay.
It also stars Selena Gomez, Andy Samberg, Cee Lo Green, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi and Jon Lovitz.
