The Love Actually actor, who played Phoenix Buchanan in the critically acclaimed Paddington 2, responded to a picture shared by Hurley on Sunday (17 January) in which she is seen holding two jars of homemade marmalade.
“Lockdown has turned me into a demented housewife: 47 jars of marmalade are nestling in my larder and another sack of Seville oranges await me,” she captioned the photo on Twitter.
The picture was then reshared by Grant who pointed out that marmalade was Paddington Bear’s favourite food.
“Paddington 3,” he simply wrote.
Grant and Hurley first met in 1987 and dated until 2000, when they announced their “amicable” split.
The pair have remained on good terms, with Grant serving as godfather to Hurley’s son Damian.
Grant appeared in 2017’s Paddington 2 as a washed-up actor who turns to a life of crime. He’s previously said that he “genuinely” believes it to be “the best film I’ve ever been in”.
In 2016, StudioCanal CEO Didier Lupfer said that the studio was committed to making a third Paddington film.
Ben Whishaw voices the titular bear in both films, which also star Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent and Peter Capaldi.
