Hugh Grant says 'toxic' mobile phones are 'killing us'

Hugh Grant isn't a fan of mobile phones as he's described the devices as "terrible things".

The Four Weddings and a Funeral actor was delighted when he ended up leaving his phone behind in a hotel room while filming new thriller The Undoing, saying the experience was "blissful".

“I hate my phone. For the first time in ages, I spent 14 blissful hours at work without it,” he told Radio Times magazine. “It was like being in 1994 again.

“Between set-ups, I studied my lines, I read a book or I talked to people. It was really nice.”

He added: “Phones are terrible things. They are toxic. I think they’re killing us.”

The 60-year-old is father to five children under nine years of age, sharing a two children with former partner Tinglan Hong and three with wife Anna Eberstein.

Earlier in the year he spoke on his worries when it came to his children and technology.

"Smart parents ban it, don't they? But we are not smart parents, we are desperate parents. We say ‘let them have the bloody thing, at least they'll shut up,'" he told Saga magazine.

"The older ones are addicts, of course. I don't know what to do about it," he added.

Grant also recently reflected on becoming a father and getting married later in life, saying it saved him from becoming a “scary old bachelor”.
