The sun is setting on Hugh Jackman’s time as Wolverine.
Appearing on Facebook, the 48-year-old ‘Logan’ star unveiled a stylish new poster for the upcoming Wolverine solo movie… and with a sun setting behind the iconic mutant, it feels rather apt.
“Sunset,” reads the caption. “LOGAN. 3.3.17”
Obviously, the imagery is perfect… if not exactly subtle.
‘Logan’ marks the end of an era – Hugh Jackman’s final film as Wolverine. After the upcoming solo film, Jackman is planning on hanging up those adamantium claws and moving on from the iconic role. And so the sunset feels rather fitting.
Even if it has already come under fire for being a bit… tame.
“This isn’t the worst poster we’ve ever seen,” said Scott Wampler over at Birth.Movies.Death. “But it’s admittedly a little underwhelming. This is Logan, for god’s sakes, the movie that blew away audiences with a 40-minute presentation at Butt-Numb-A-Thon, the movie that features Wolverine stabbing chumps in the head with wild abandon, the movie – we have been assured – that Wolverine fans have been clamoring for for years.”
And I have to admit… I know what he means.
The impressive ‘Logan’ teaser trailer has given us a glimpse of the Wolverine film fans have been dying to see. It’s gritty, visceral and shows a world-weary side to the iconic mutant that the ‘X-Men’ movies have so far avoided.
Thankfully, it seems the movie will deliver on the promise of its trailer, with early buzz indicating it could well be the superhero hit of 2017.
But going on the poster alone… you’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise.
‘Logan’ heads to cinemas on 3 March 2017.
