It’s official – Hugh Jackman’s ‘Logan’ is R-Rated.

It’s no secret that ‘Logan’ is the darkest Wolverine spin-off we’ve seen to date. After all, official trailers reveal a grim look at the ageing Wolverine as he and X-23 hack and slash their way to freedom. Of course, we all assumed the film would get an R-Rating.

But now, it’s official.

Director James Mangold took to Twitter this afternoon to confirm the film’s rating.

But what does that mean here in the UK?

Well, he also followed up with the film’s UK rating, too. But don’t get too excited – it’s not going to be an ‘18’. In fact, in the UK it’s managed to wrangle a ‘15’.

“I believe we have a 15 in the UK,” he stated.

Based on the ‘Old Man Logan’ comic book series, ‘Logan’ finds Hugh Jackman as an ageing Wolverine, who is forced to look after a young girl who has a lot more in common with him than he first realises. The girl, known as X-23, has very similar powers to Wolverine, and in the comic books, is actually a clone of the man himself. And it looks as though ‘Logan’ will see Wolverine fighting for her life… as well as that of his old friend, Professor X.

So far, the trailers have looked excellent. And with ‘Logan’ said to be Hugh Jackman’s final film as Wolverine, it’s quite the story to send him off on a high note.

‘Logan’ stars Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, alongside Dafne Keen, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook, Richard E. Grant and Stephen Merchant.

James Mangold directed the film based on a script he co-wrote with Scott Frank and Michael Green.

‘Logan’ heads to cinemas on 1 March 2017.
